New Family Checklist

Welcome to the Hurricanes! Now that your swimmer has tried out and registered for the team, here are some things you may want to do either before the first practice or within the first few weeks:

Add any additional email addresses to your account that should receive email updates from the team. This can be done by going to your account and adding an “alternate” email address in the Account Contact Information section.

o   For families with Senior aged swimmers, you may want to include their email address as one of the alternate email addresses.

Familiarize yourself with our team website and where to find useful information. The most useful information can be found using the buttons in the middle of our homepage.

Attend the “New Family” Zoom session on September 4 to meet Board Members from the team and learn more about the Hurricanes and what to expect

RSVP to the Fall Season Kick Off by filling out the Google Form on our website.

Check out the online team gear pop-up store (coming soon) and the team’s Elsmore site for equipment and team gear. The link for our Elsmore site can be found on our website, and a list of equipment (required and suggested) is on their site.

Subscribe to the appropriate practice calendar. There are links to subscribe to the practice calendar, as well as Team Event calendar, for each practice group. This is the best way to stay up to date on any changes to practice times or locations.

Sign up for swim meets your swimmer plans to attend. The meets we attend require our coaches to submit swimmer events well ahead of time to the host team. If you look at the meet information for each meet, there is a deadline listed for committing to attending the meet. Because meets are so full, coaches cannot make entries after these dates.

Familiarize yourself with the volunteer policy. Each season we have a volunteer requirement based on the size and number of meets we host. While it is noted as an agreement during registration, it is important that families volunteer. We rely on our families to volunteer at these meets to host efficient and successful meets. Please note that the volunteer policy applies to all families, regardless of whether or not their swimmers are participating in meets. Joining after the start of the season does not exempt a family from the volunteer policy.
