Cyclones is for 11-12 year olds, and is an important transitional phase between 10&U and Senior level swimming. With the diverse experience and abilities within this group, the levels of training become more complex. A major goal in Cyclone training is to continue to develop a strong foundation in technique while establishing and improving upon a speed and endurance base. Swimmers coming from Whirlwinds are ready for placement in our Cyclone group when they are able to swim all four competitive strokes, as well as starts, turns, and test sets. Our group has a wide range of swimming abilities - from those that have just started swimming on a team to those who have qualified and competed at the zone meet. To accommodate & help everyone be as successful as they can we have two main groups: Cyclone 1 & Cyclone 2.
Cyclone I swimmers are swimmers new to Cyclones and/or competitive swimming. These swimmers are those still working on advancing their swimming skills, be that: starts, turns, managing intervals, stroke technique, and endurance. These swimmers are often new to swim meets or have SILVER times (from MN Swimming time standards) or slower.
Expectation is a minimum of 2 practices per week, with a recommended 3-4 practices/week
1-2 meets per month is highly encouraged
Swimmers will fine-tune technique, practice pace-clock reading, and improve upon the listening skills

Cyclone II swimmers are swimmers who are more advanced in their swimming skills. In this group swimmers still continue to build on stroke technique, starts, and turns, while also developing their endurance with harder intervals and completing longer distances. These swimmers come to most swim meets and have GOLD times (from MN Swimming time standards) or faster.
